This man makes people care about what is happening in this election and in this country. It's statements and speeches like this that have made over 1 million people donate money to Barack Obama:
Frankly, I'm a big fan of Ron Paul, I'm not sure if I'd even vote for Obama in the general election (assuming he wins primaries over Clinton) over McCain. However, I'm fascinated with the throngs that surround Obama and trumpet his name. When Obama comes to town, people show up... a lot of people. His gatherings are huge! People argue that a president is not the one who brings about change, Congress and other committees do. While that is partially true, I think that with this many people actually listening and passionately caring about Obama as a candidate and his message (change or hope or whatever), the people of this country united can bring about that change as well, by pushing Congress and other officials. When many people really actually care about the state of something and want change, that change will more than likely happen (Otherwise we'd still be reporting to the Queen of Britain). So, is this "change" that Obama talks about good, or bad? I mean, really, what is the "change" that he wants to happen? Does he know, do you know? Anyone?
Hey all, if you want a free rental at the Redbox movie machines (generally inside McDonald's), use the code "GROUNDHOG", without the quotes. I wonder if I'm allowed to share that online??? (If not, and I get some threatening email from Redbox, I'll remove it :-) You can sign up to get the codes from their website.
Redbox, I think, is way better than Blockbuster now if you can return your movies in a day or so. It's $1 a day, up to 25 days, then the movie is yours (obviously you'd be paying $25 for it). Blockbuster is now about $4 for a movie... so, really, I can get four movies at Redbox for that. I still use Blockbuster's mailing service, but I'm also thinking about switching to Netflix since it's the same price, same movie selection, same service, but with Netflix you can have unlimited downloading of movies too, for free!! (and there is a MythTV plugin for Netflix) Since Blockbuster went and raised their prices so much for their mailing and store trade in services, there is no point to use them unless necessary. Nothing sets them apart any longer...
UPDATE: New code, "DVDONME", for those of you who like cheap movies from a big red box...
So, 1% of America has voted so far in the primaries, time for the other 99% to vote for Ron Paul...
We came as the characters from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, it was really fun! It took us several days to make the costumes, but it was great fun (although very hard to move around and see...).
I was Master Shake, Travis was Frylock and Nicole was Meatwad.
UPDATE: Since no one could see the picture I uploaded with this site (I'm using some Drupal plugin I didn't test very well), I loaded them to Google's PicasaWeb and embedded the slideshow here. So, here are the pics.
Ron Paul, he makes sense, ignore the big media and dig into the candidate.
"The Yamhill-Carlton football team completely dominated in a 36-6 blowout victory over the visiting Estacada Rangers in the second round of the Class 4A state playoffs on Friday night." -- News Register
I'm getting sick right now, some kind of cold. It feels like I may lose my voice in the next few days or something, but oh well. We spent all yesterday wandering around Rome and saw a lot of cool stuff. It was raining about half the time, but that's ok, cause that's the first time it has rained since we got here. Today, we're looking for bike boxes to send our bikes home in on the plane. That is turning out to be a hard task. Tomorrow morning, we will be going to the Vatican, but that will be a little tough because the entire Rome metro system is on strike, so we may have to walk about an hour to get there. Tomorrow night, the other four guys are going to a soccer game between the top two teams in Italy. It should be fun for them, but I didn't feel like spending a ton of money to go to a soccer game where I didn't care about either team. Plus, we have to do the airport circus thing the next morning. It's fortunate that Italian is a very close language to Spanish because I can actually understand half of what people are saying to me. Something funny: the five of us are in a hostel room with six beds and the sixth bed is taken by an English (like, from England, English) girl who seems to be a little intimidated by being stuck in a room with five stupid American guys. Ok, Adam and I are going to continue the search for two more bike boxes now. It's fun being over here and all, but I'm ready to go home. :-)
